PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE: Dec. 6, 2004

Progress Reports
At the midpoint of each quarter, the school sends out progress reports to students who are earning a C- or less in any class. With five weeks of school remaining in the quarter, there is time to improve these grades. The Winter Break is a great opportunity to make up missed work. If you have any questions about your child’s grade or performance in class, please contact the teacher directly. Progress reports were mailed last Friday.

Students of the Month
November is a month for giving thanks, and I want to personally thank the following students for their contributions to the classroom and to the school as a whole. These six students were identified by their teachers as the Students of the Month for November. Thank you for your hard work and determination.
• Sixth Grade: Michael & Sabrina
• Seventh Grade: Luana & Paris
• Eighth Grade: Sam & Vera

Student Pick Up and Drop Off
Remember to use the drop off loop when picking up or dropping off your students. For the safety of all students, and to keep the parking lots clear for staff, it is imperative that parents use the drop off circle at all times. This includes zero period band students. Thank you for your cooperation.
—Daniel Norbutas, Principal

Making Change Work
Donations due Dec. 17
The campaign which started Sept. 11 will end on Dec. 21. The “Making Change Work” program is hoping to match or exceed last year’s total of $70,000 by expanding the campaign outside the boundaries of Marin County to schools in Sonoma and Alameda Counties. 100% of the money raised goes to rebuilding schools and playing fields in Afghanistan.

Hall Middle School will host a pizza party for the homeroom class that has collected the most donations for the program. If you have some loose change somewhere in your house, bring it in and put it in your homeroom’s collection container. Some students have asked if only pennies can be donated and the answer is that any money donations are welcome. Thank you to all the people who have contributed. Remember, every penny counts!
— Shelby McClure, Hall Middle School Representative

Hall Middle School Music presents “Holiday Harmonies”
Thursday, Dec. 16, 7:30pm • Hall gym
The Hall Middle School Music Department offers its musical gift for the holidays on Thursday evening, December 16 at 7:30pm in the school Gym/Multi-Use Facility. (Admission is free.) Featured ensembles will be the Intermediate and Advanced Bands plus the “unwrapping” of the school’s shiny new Cougar Choir! The program promises to be a harmonious feast for any musical palate. “We’ll be performing traditional holiday fare along with folk songs, Broadway show tunes, choral madrigals, and some all-American jazz,” stated Kenneth Brungess, the program’s new music director. “I’m amazed and impressed by the students’ talent and creativity,” continued their conductor. “We’re going to have great fun playing music together this year!”
