Tardies and Detentions
Recently, the staff has had discussions about the number of students
arriving late to school in the morning and late to class after
recess and lunch. Arriving late negatively affects a child’s
ability to learn, as well as disrupting the rest of the class.
Managing time effectively is an important life skill, and one
that we stress at the middle school.
Students who receive four tardies in a class during a quarter
will earn a detention. Students will continue to earn detentions
for each tardy after the fourth one. In order to avoid these
detentions, and to get the most out of the day, it is imperative
that students get to school and get to class on time. If you
have any questions about tardies or detentions, please do not
hesitate to call.
Math Help for Parents
Have you tried to help your child with their math homework, but
you had trouble navigating the CPM book? Help is here. Parent
handbooks that accompany the CPM textbooks are available for
check out from the school library. Your child can check out
a book for you to use at home for the remainder of the year.
The book is a great resource for parents and will make it easier
for you support your child.
Winter Concert Magic
Way back in 2004, the music program at Hall put on a great show.
Hall students from all grades entertained the crowd with music,
singing, and even a little dancing. There is truly something
magical to hearing our students make beautiful music. The intermediate
and advanced bands sounded great and it was wonderful to hear
the new Hall Chorus perform for the first time! Congratulations
to all of the students who made such magical music and to Ken Brungess
for doing such a great job with the kids. Mark your calendars
for the Spring Concert on May 26.

Join the Hall Parent Book Club
Thursday, Feb. 3 • Hall Library
Hall PTA is sponsoring a “Parent Book Club” open to all who want
to learn and share. We’ve settled on a timely topic: Right from Wrong,
Instilling a Sense of Integrity in your Child, written by teen expert Michael
Riera and Joseph diPrisco. If your holiday was too hectic and you did not get
a chance to read our parent book club selection, fear not as there is still plenty
of time! We’ll be meeting Thursday, Feb. 3, 7:00pm in the Hall Library
for a book discussion, facilitated by the Hall Counselor, Molly Cohen. This will
be our first meeting and it is open to all parents.
