PRINCIPALS
MESSAGE: Feb. 14, 2005 |
Hall Pride
You may notice that many Hall
students are now sporting Hall Spirit
Wear sweatshirts and T-shirts. It is
wonderful to see so many students
wearing Hall clothes. Sharon Gurewitz
and Rebecca Sarokin have done a
great job in designing, coordinating
and selling LogoWear. The Class of
’05 sweatshirts have been particularly
popular. Look for future opportunities
to help your child show their school
spirit with some nice Hall clothing.
Progress Report Change
Progress reports went out last week
with a small change to them. In order
to ensure that parents are receiving
the progress reports, a signature line
has been added to the bottom. If you
receive a progress report for your
child, be sure to return a copy with
your signature. This will let us know
that you received it and are aware of
the grades.
Progress reports are sent out for
students earning a C- or lower in any
class. If you have any questions about
your child’s grade, contact their
teacher directly.
January Students of the Month
Students of the Month for January
were selected by grade level teams in
recognition of their effort and
contributions in the classroom. These
students have enhanced the learning
environment and shown an exemplary
commitment to their own learning.
Congratulations to all of you.
6th grade: Hanna & John
7th grade: Sarah & Gabe
8th grade: Zoe & Alan
Survey Alert
Parent surveys went home last
Monday in backpack mail. Tomorrow
is the last day to turn in your
completed survey form. We want to
hear from all parents, so please
return your survey with your child
tomorrow.
Mathletes Continue their Winning
Ways
The third county-wide Mathletes
competition was last Tuesday. Our
students had another fine showing.
Both the seventh and the eighth
grade teams finished in second
place. The eighth grade team is
maintaining its position near the top
of the leader board for the year.
The Ice Cream Challenge
Continues
Once again you can earn an ice
cream excursion with your child by
solving a Mathletes question. I want
to encourage families who have not
participated previously to give it a
go. As always, the purpose is to
work together as a family to solve it,
or at least talk about it. You can
email, phone or child transport your
answer to me. The first four correct
answers will be my guest. New
families will get preferential
treatment over returning winners.
Four men were shipwrecked on
an
island. The first day they gathered a
pile of coconuts and then went to
sleep. During the night, one of the
men woke up and ate 1/3 of the
coconuts. A second man woke up
later and ate 1/3 of the remaining
coconuts. A third man did the
same. When the fourth man woke
up, he ate ¼ of the remaining
coconuts. There were six coconuts
left. How many coconuts did the
men gather?
