MESSAGE: Mar. 21, 2005 |
What an Odyssey!
Congratulations to the Hall sixth grade Odyssey of the Mind
team. During the Redwood Region competition last Saturday in
Santa Rosa, the Hall Middle School team earned third place in
their category. The team did a great job of working together
and creatively expressing themselves.
Congratulations to Ben, Michael, Emily,
Brian, Jacob and Andrew. And special thanks
to their coach, Holly Bogin.
The Sum Total
The fourth and final county Mathletes competition was
last Tuesday. Both the seventh and the eighth grade teams did an
excellent job again. The Hall eighth grade team earned top honors
for the rou nd and finished in second place for the season. Congratulations
to all of the Mathletes team and their coaches, Ms. Ahle and
Ms. Wethington.
-
7th grade team: Izzy, Marco, Gigi,
Jeffrey, Emma, Hannah, Shay.
- 8th grade team: Daniel, Jonathan,
Caroline, Danny, Gabriel, Steven.
The Final Challenge
As the Mathletes season has come to an end, this is your
last chance to solve a Mathletes problem and potentially win an
all-expense paid trip to Baskin Robbins with yours truly. Families
who have not previously won will get preferential treatment, and
two previous winners who could not join us last time (Joey and
Jason), will be getting their just desserts. Email, call,
fax or student messenger your answer to the following problem:
In a certain year, Minnesota produced 2/3 and Michigan produced
1/9 of all of the iron ore produced in the United States. If
all the other iron ore-producing states combined produced 18
million tons that year, how many million tons did Minnesota
produce that year?
After School Art Begins
The first after school art class began last Tuesday. Ms.
Kryciek is teaching printmaking every Tuesday and Thursday from
3:15 to 4:30pm for the next three weeks. There is still room in
the class if your child would like to join. Contact the office
if you are interested.
