STAR Testing Begins Next Week
Next week students will begin taking
the annual state testing known as STAR. STAR stands for Standardized
Testing and Reporting Program and is administered to public school
students from second to eleventh grade every year. Tests cover
language arts, mathematics, reading, and spelling for all grades,
plus social studies for eighth graders. The tests yield individual,
grade, and school-level results. This summer you will receive individual
results for your child. The grade and school-level results are
analyzed every year by the staff. The data helps us to identify
areas of strength and areas of need for departments and grade levels,
as well as providing critical individual student data.
Students will test in the morning with their homerooms and then
will attend all six classes each day. A copy of the testing
schedule is included in today’s Backpack Mail. Due to a change in
the testing program, sixth and eighth graders will actually have
two hours less testing than they did last year. Make-up testing
will be available at the end of each week for students who miss
any tests.
Help your children to perform their best by making sure they are
well rested and have a healthy breakfast each morning. Please do
not hesitate to call me if you have any questions about STAR testing
this year at Hall.
The Roll, the List
The third quarter has come
to an end, and it is time to recognize our students who have excelled
in the classroom. Honor Roll students earned above a 3.5 GPA and
Principal’s List students earned
a perfect 4.0. Congratulations to all of the students who made
Honor Roll and Principal’s List for the third quarter.
