Changes for Next Year
There are a couple of changes in store for next year. The first
of these is a change to the bell schedule. In an effort to reduce
traffic after school, we will be beginning our day ten minutes
earlier (8:30am) and ending ten minutes earlier (3:00pm). We hope
that this will decrease the gridlock on Doherty on the days that
Redwood releases at 3:11pm. On Wednesdays we will start at 8:50am
and end at 3:00pm. This change has been discussed and approved
by the faculty, the PTA, and the Site Council. The new bell schedule
will be mailed to you at the end of the year or over the summer.
For over twenty years, Ms. Dianna Smith has taught at Hall Middle
School. She is an award-winning teacher who has had a positive
impact on the lives of scores of Larkspur and Corte Madera children.
This year she has announced her retirement. While we are extremely
happy for Dianna, we can’t help but feel a little sad for
us. Ms. Smith is a remarkable teacher who held her students to
the highest standards. She is an integral part of a great seventh
grade teaching team that continually works to prepare students
for eighth grade and beyond. Words could never express our gratitude
for all that she has given the school and the community. Her impact
on the education and personal growth of hundreds of children will
continue to be felt for years to come. She has truly earned a rich
and rewarding retirement. We wish her only the best.
Stepping up to teach seventh-grade science will be Ms.
Mihalek.
As our Golden Bell recipient for this year, Ms. Mihalek has been
a part of the sixth- grade team for over ten years. She brings
a strong science background and commitment to her students to her
new assignment.
Moving into the sixth-grade Math/Science slot will be Ms.
Ahle,
who taught seventh-grade Pre-Algebra this year. Ms. Ahle is excited
about working with the sixth graders and having the opportunity
to draw from her strong science background.
Mr. Pankler will be returning next year from his world travels.
He will resume his teaching of seventh-grade Pre-Algebra and Spanish.
He is eager to return to Hall and work with our wonderful students.
