MESSAGE: Sept. 6,
2005 |
Good Wishes from Graduates
The Class of 2005, while gone, has not been forgotten. As part
of our Staff Development Day last week before the start of school,
I shared with the staff an anonymous letter from the recent graduates.
A portion of that letter reads:
We will always take pride in saying “I went to the best
school on Earth, the one, the only, the fabulous, the extra-cool,
the awesome Hall. And I was so lucky.” You taught us so
many traits over these past three years: Courage, strength, intelligence,
respect, responsibility, ambition, optimism, honesty, humor,
generosity, humor, generosity, tolerance, but most of all, love
for ourselves and our peers. And as we all go on our different
life paths, nothing will ever amount to our time spent with you
at Hall.
Needless to say, this letter touched many of the staff members
and provided for a rich discussion about our personal and professional
goals for the year. I want to personally thank the individual(s)
who took the time to write to the staff at Hall. For all of the
time and energy that teachers give to their students, it is rewarding
when it is reflected back.
Honor Roll and Principal’s List
Every grading
period, students are honored for exceptional academic performance.
At Hall this takes the form of Honor Roll and Principal’s
List. Students who earn at least a 3.5 grade point average (3 A’s
and 3 B’s would earn a 3.5), are placed on the Honor Roll.
Students who earn a 4.0 (all A’s) are placed on the Principal’s
List. All Honor Roll and Principal’s List students receive
a certificate in the homeroom, have their names listed in the Hall
Bulletin, and get an ice cream treat at lunch. Given the challenging
classes here at Hall, earning consistently high grades is a noteworthy
achievement.
Today we recognize the students who earned Honor Roll and Principal’s
List from the fourth quarter last year. Congratulations
for your academic accomplishments and keep up the great work! [NB:
full Honor Roll and Principal’s List are on the online
PDF version of the Hall Bulletin; Hall parents and community
