Hurricane Relief
Over the last several weeks, the students and staff at Hall have
participated in fund-raising efforts for those affected by hurricane
Katrina. Many of our students participated in the evening event
hosted by Neil Cummins. Additionally, our school counselor,
Molly Cohen, has organized the efforts here at Hall. She
met with interested students and mapped out a plan. Over
the last several weeks, each homeroom has been using collection
boxes to collect money from students. Also, students brought
in baked goods for a lunchtime bake sale that attracted a big crowd.
To augment the student effort, Ms. Ahle and Mr. Nelson were able
to secure matching grants from Regal Wine Company and Beringer
Winery. Along with these school-wide efforts, numerous individual
efforts have supported the cause. One of our sixth grade students
sold original artwork to other students and donated his proceeds
to his homeroom box. After all the boxes were counted, the cookies
eaten, and matching grants added, the Hall community was able to
raise over $3,000! This money has been donated to the Red Cross
to assist in their relief efforts. Thank you to all of the students,
parents and teachers who gave their money and their time.
