After
School Academic Support
We
are pleased to announce the beginning of After School Academic
Support for the second quarter of the school year. A
group of teachers and I have met to debrief the support program
from last year and have designed a new program for this year.
CORE Support Program
The CORE Support
Program is designed to support students with their homework and
offer supplemental instruction focusing on concepts covered in
CORE classes. The hour-long sessions are grade-level specific:
Monday is for sixth grade and Tuesday is for seventh grade. Half of the hour is spent on Math/Science
and the other half hour is spent on Language Arts/Social Studies.
This is not a drop-in program. Students who are enrolled
are expected to attend each weekly session of the quarter. If you
are interested in having your child participate in this program,
contact Ms. Ahle for sixth grade and Ms. Friesen for seventh grade.
Peer Tutoring Program
The Peer Tutoring Program is available Wednesdays
and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:15pm. Support for sixth, seventh and
eighth grade students is provided by designated eighth grade tutors
who have been trained to work with other students. If you
are interested in having your child participate either as a tutor
or receive tutoring support, contact Mr. Nelson or Ms. Shaner.
Library Office Hours
The library
is open in the morning at 8:00am and after school until 4:00pm.
All students are invited to use the library as a space to work on
homework. Along
with the excellent collection of books, twelve computers, a printer,
and a photocopier are available for students’ use.
It is our hope that these programs will provide direct,
effective support for students. If you have any questions or concerns,
please feel free to contact me.
