The Problem with Muffins
Last week I invited families to take
on one of the problems from the
county-wide Mathletes competition. I
was impressed with the number of
correct responses I received. Many
of you correctly deduced that each
muffin would cost 85 cents. It is my
hope that the problems provide an
opportunity for families to sit down
and work through them together. The
first five students whose families
submitted a correct response were
Izzy, Rob, Nikolai, Kenta and
Kyle. Each of these students
and their parents are invited to join
me for a lunchtime stroll to Baskin
Robbins on Friday, December 9.
Congratulations also to the fifteen
other families who sent in correct
responses via email, voicemail, note,
or student messenger.
Woman of Steel
Last weekend were the performances
of the fall musical, Man of
Steel. At this point I cannot say how
wonderful the performances were,
since I am writing this two days
before opening night. You’ll have to
wait for my next message for my full
review. What I can say now is how
impressed I am with the entire
process that brought the play
together. In her first year as director,
Lori Glass has done an amazing job
of channeling the energy of her
students and the efforts of her parent
support. You will often hear me say that
the journey is more important than the
destination. I can honestly say that the
journey has been a rewarding experience
for everyone involved, and for that we all
owe a big thank you to Lori. Our students
will carry the memories of this experience
for a long time to come. Even though I
haven’t seen the play, I am pretty
confident there is a super hero in it. Based
on the work that has gone into it, I know
for a fact that there has been a super hero
directing it.
