Mathletes Puzzler
Last week the Hall Mathletes Teams
turned in another strong performance
in the county competition. The eighth
grade team tied for second place
while the seventh grade team tied for
third. Both teams are in the hunt for a
strong finish in the spring.
As I do after
each competition, I offer you, the families
of Hall Middle School, one of the
problems from the competition. Instead
of rewarding the first correct
responses, all correct responses will
be included in a drawing to determine
who gets to go to ice cream. This way
you can take your time and solve the
problem as a family. Get your responses
to me by this Friday to be
eligible for the drawing. Enjoy this one — it’s a fun
one:
Five more people are ahead of you
in
line than are behind you. Three times
as many people are in line as the
number of people behind you. How
many people are ahead of you in line?
