PRINCIPALS
MESSAGE: Feb. 13, 2006 |
Minimum Day February 17
This year Career Day will be an early
release day. Students will be
released at 12:45pm. Hot lunch will be
served at 12:45 and one bus will be
available at 1:00. Please remind your
students that they may not visit any
other school when it is in session. We
will be conducting a staff meeting
starting at 1:00, so it will also be
important that all students leave the
Hall campus.
The Sights of Hall
One of the best things about being a
principal is being able to wander
around campus and visit all of the
classrooms. I get a view of the school
that very few people have. Last
Tuesday is a perfect example of what
goes on at Hall on a daily basis.
In a sixth grade class that was
studying the caste system in India, I
saw students work to complete a task
while assuming the roles of different
castes. When I left that class I saw an
eighth grade science class outside on
the blacktop using rulers and different
lenses to measure focal points. As I
continued on I went into the gym
where seventh graders were in the
middle of a ping pong tournament on
one side of the gym and eighth
graders were rotating among a variety
of gymnastics activities, including a
balance beam and parallel bars. On
my way out of that class I talked to a
seventh grade teacher about
scheduling the African drumming
assembly for the next week and the
date of the Chinatown field trip.
This was one class period on a
random Tuesday morning. Every day
our students are engaged in enriching,
challenging and engaging activities.
When I wander around campus I am
always impressed with the work of
both our students and our teachers. It
is truly an excellent place to learn.
