PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE: Apr. 17, 2006

Drop-Off and Pick-Up
During the week before Spring Break, the first phase of the construction of the new wing began. This has had an impact on our drop-off loop and the path of travel for students walking on to campus.

The fencing surrounding the construction area will remain for the rest of the school year. Student drop-off now happens along the building at the entrance of the school. Cones are in place along the side of the building to delineate a drop-off lane for students. When the rain stops, these will be replaced by delineators that will mark the student walking path. Continue to drop your students off at the cones and they can walk either to the left or to the right to enter campus. Make sure you do not block the passing lane as you drop off your students.

Despite the shortened loop, parents are still not permitted to use the Piper Park entrance to campus. Traffic on that street blocks police and emergency vehicle access and staff parking. If you want to avoid congestion in the school entrance, consider the following:

  1. Weather permitting, have your student walk or ride their bike to school.
  2. If you must drive, carpool whenever possible. Coordinate with your neighbors to put more students in each car. A great number of vehicles dropping off and picking up in the morning contain only one student.
  3. Whether you carpool or not, use Larkspur Plaza Drive as a drop-off and pick-up area. It will be designated as a passenger loading zone. The street is wide enough to drop off students and turn around to exit;
  4. Use the parking lot across the street at Albertsons for drop-off and pick-up.

We are all excited about the addition of the new wing at Hall. The eight new classrooms that it will bring will allow us to have enough classrooms to add the fifth grade next year and accommodate increased student enrollment in the future. I appreciate your patience and cooperation as we embark on this project for the next several months. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
