MESSAGE: September 11 , 2006 |
Back to School Night
Back to School Night will begin at 6:30 pm on Thursday, September 14. At 6:30 we will have a general session in the gym for all parents. After the general session (7–8:30), parents will follow their child’s schedule. Each teacher will do a twelve minute presentation on the curriculum and expectations for their class. Fifth grade teachers will provide information about their classes from 7–8pm. This evening is an opportunity for you to experience your child’s school day – albeit in a reduced format without homework. Your child will bring their schedule home to you on Wednesday, September 13.
This evening is for the parents at Hall. Therefore, we ask that you leave your children at home to work on their homework. While you will have an opportunity to meet each teacher, this evening is not a time for parent conferences. If you would like to schedule a time to talk with a teacher, you can contact them by voicemail and arrange a time at a later date. Additional parking is available at Piper Park.
Binder Reminders
The publisher of our Binder Reminders has experienced a delay in publishing our seventh and eighth grade Binder Reminders. They are not anticipating delivery before the end of this week. In the interim, we are printing weekly calendar sheets to help students track their daily assignments.
We will continue to reinforce the importance of organization and keeping on top of homework, even in the absence of the Binder Reminders. You can support your student by checking his/her interim calendar sheet.
Class Assemblies
During the first week of school we held four grade-level assemblies. Each of these assemblies provided us with an opportunity to clarify or reinforce academic and behavioral expectations. Teachers and administration talked about the importance of trying their hardest and asking for help.
Emergency Cards
Last week the emergency card information went home in backpack mail. If you have not already done so, please return the form with any corrections to the main office. We need this information to compile our emergency phone tree and to have current information for all of our students.
Attention Hall Dads
You are cordially invited and strongly encouraged to attend the first ever Cougar Crew Club (CCC) sign-up event. We will meet prior to Back to School Night at 5:30pm in the 8th grade courtyard. Appetizers from the grill and beverages will be provided. For Dads who are familiar with Neil Cummins D+ Dads, the CCC is the Dad-driven action group at Hall Middle. So, for Dads interested in getting more involved helping meet the needs of the school, staying in the know with all that's happening at Hall or would simply value the opportunity to network with other Hall Dads, the CCC is for you. We look forward to seeing you Back to School night in the 8th grade courtyard at 5:30 pm!
