Making a Difference
If your household is anything like mine, you get solicited for donations throughout the year. For as much as we would like to support all of the worthwhile programs and organizations, we don’t have the financial resources to support them all. As a family, we carefully designate our donations for the year. The reason I share this information with you is to remind you of the importance of the Corte Madera Larkspur Schools Foundation.
I strongly encourage you to support the Foundation in any way that you can. Their tireless work and financial commitment to the district directly impact the breadth and depth of the educational programs at Hall Middle School. The focus of the Foundation has always been the instructional programs at the two schools, and every year their contribution supports art classes, Youth in Arts, Poets in the Classrooms, physical education, music, among other programs. In my last three years at Hall I have seen the Foundation provide LCD projectors for classrooms, a sound system for the gym, science equipment, computers, and a variety of other instructional materials.
Also, our small class sizes are a direct result of the support we receive from the Foundation every year. Every program and classroom in the district is touched by the Foundation in some way.
The Foundation is staffed entirely by volunteers, and presidents Dominique Halilej and Jeannette Thorson do an amazing job of managing the work of the Foundation. This organization is run by people deeply committed to the district and the education of your child. It is supported by families like yours, who make the conscious effort to donate to the Foundation. Your financial contribution improves the education of the entire district and the community as a whole.
I cannot stress enough the importance of the Foundation to the excellence of the district. It is an amazing, supportive partnership that this district enjoys with the Foundation. And when it comes down to it, the Foundation is all about you. Thank you for your support.
