MESSAGE: October 9 , 2006 |
Progress Reports
Progress reports were mailed last Friday. We send progress reports at the mid-point of each quarter to students who are in danger of not passing a class. Any student who is receiving a C- or lower is sent a progress report. If your child did receive a progress report, be sure to sign and return it so we know you saw it. We will be contacting parents who do not send in the signed report to make sure they saw it. If you have any questions about your student’s grades, contact the teacher directly.
Congratulations New Student Council
The fall Student Council elections were completed a couple of weeks ago. Seventh and eighth grade students vigorously campaigned for the votes of the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Campaign posters, stickers and spirited speeches highlighted the major issues that our prospective leaders want to tackle this year. I am pleased to introduce to you the Hall Middle School Fall Student Council:
President – Jeanne
Vice President – Kelsie
Secretary – Aqil
Treasurer – Rona
Publicity Coordinators – Lucas & Michael
Activities Coordinators –Dylan, Alexia & Mark
I look forward to working with the new Student Council and all of the homeroom representatives in improving the academic and social experience of Hall students.

Hall 6th Grade Titanic Field Trip
All 6th graders will be visiting the Titanic Artifacts Exhibit at the Metreon in San Francisco on Friday, October 27. The special group rate of $15.00 per student will allow students, along with their parent chaperones, to view this historic exhibit from 10am to 12pm (noon). This field trip enriches our current Science unit, Models and Designs. Please look for Permission Slips and additional details, including trip logistics, in next week's Backpack Mail.
Hall Cougars Flag Football Team Begins Season With A Roar!
Our Cougars Flag Football team is off to a great start with spirited games against San Domenico and Kent Middle School behind us (the Kent game resulted in a tie, which, of course, would have been a victory if overtime had been allowed!)
The Cougars' next game is Wednesday, October 11 against Lagunitas Middle School at our Hall home field at 3:30pm. Come cheer the Cougars on! Practices are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 3pm at the Hall field for a new monthly special fee of $125. Games will run through November 13 (against St. Mark's) with playoffs through November 20. All grades are welcome. Our team which includes several tough 8th graders, a talented group of 6th and 7th graders, and a few gutsy 5th graders as well.
Stay tuned for details about our new Hall Basketball Team (for boys and girls) with practices on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning in December and games on Tuesdays beginning in January. CYO players are welcome. If interested, contact Daniel Norbutas or Andy Boone.
