PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE: October 16 , 2006

A Great Chalk Festival

If you missed the Chalk Festival last week, you missed a great event!  This year’s festival was a huge success in every way.  Scores of Hall and Neil Cummins students created masterpieces on the blacktop while being entertained by a variety of district musical talent.  Students ate food, had their faces painted and had a great time with one another.  Organizing all of the aspects of this event is not a simple job. Our rookie organizer, Alexandra Liebster did a masterful job of pulling it all together. Our thanks to her and all of the parent volunteers who ordered and sold food, chalked squares, organized music and painted faces. It would not have been the great event that it was without your help.

Academic Support

Providing academic support to students who need it is a priority of Hall Middle School.  Students who qualify for special education services receive support to meet their individual goals.

We also have a new support available for non-special education students.  This year we have a regular education academic support class for sixth, seventh and eighth graders who need additional assistance.  The class meets every day during sixth period.  Students enrolled in the class miss their regular enrichment class during sixth period.  In the support class, students work on organization, homework management and receive individual support.  If you feel your child is in need of this support, begin by contacting our counselor, Molly Yasuda (x2221).  She can guide you through the process.

SCHOOL NEWS

Attention: Parents of Fifth Graders

Fifth grade parents interested in learning about the fifth grade Outdoor Education experience at the Marin Headlands are encouraged to attend an informational meeting this Thursday, October 19, at 7pm in room 404.  Outdoor Ed chaperones are required to attend this meeting. Thanks,

Magazine Drive

The Magazine Drive started this past Friday.  The 6th, 7th and 8th graders are ready to sell!  We need to have 8 parent volunteers on October 19 and/or October 27 from 11:30-1pm to help process the orders.  Please help us out as this fundraiser supports student council events. Please contact Lori Calzaretta or Susanne Denny at vp-gr5@hallpta.org
