Healthy Kids Survey
Every year our seventh grade students participate in the statewide Healthy Kids Survey. The survey provides valuable information about student behaviors and attitudes about a range of topics, including diet, violence, drugs and physical activity. We use the information from the surveys to guide interventions, inform drug education programs and improve our school climate. A summary of last year’s Healthy Kids Survey is available at district website. I encourage you to take a look at it if you are interested. The detailed results are available in the main office.
HALLoween
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year. There is something about the costumes, the pumpkins and the candy that had a lasting impression on me. Hall students are permitted to dress up for Halloween. That being said, it is important that students and parents remember that Halloween and the day after Halloween are regular school days. Teachers will be conducting classroom activities and giving tests and quizzes like any other day. If students decide to dress up for Halloween, it is important that their costumes do not interfere with the lessons of the day. To accomplish this, costumes must adhere to the following guidelines:
Costumes Must:
- Be practical for attendance throughout the entire school day, including PE. Students must be able to sit comfortably in all classes and do work.
- Follow the school dress code (no bare midriff, bare shoulders, spaghetti straps).
- Be school appropriate.
Costumes May Not Include the Following:
- Masks
- Face Painting
- Any type of weapon (gun, sword, spear, etc)
- Hair coloring
- Drug or alcohol references
- Silly String
- Costumes of a sexual nature, reflecting violent themes, or negatively representing any race, religion or gender
Twin Cities Free Shuttle
A reminder for students who take public transit in the afternoon – the Twin Cities Shuttle picks-up daily at Hall Middle and is free through 2006. The shuttle departs at 3:10, runs past Redwood High, down Tamal Vista, stops at the Town Center and continues all the way to San Clemente Park.

Magazine Drive
We DESPERATLY need volunteers to help with collecting magazine order forms and handing out the prizes on October 27 from 11:30-1pm. PLEASE help the Student Council by volunteering. Contact Lori Calzaretta or Patty Patsel at vp-gr5@hallpta.org.
Hall Community Service Program for Fifth Grade Students
We would like to introduce and welcome 5th grade students to the Hall Community Service program. Participating in community service isn't mandatory. However, 5th grade students who choose to perform five hours of community service per school year are eligible for membership on the Community Service Honor Roll. They will also receive a certificate at the end-of-the-year assembly.
Check HERE for additional information about community service at Hall Middle School.

We can use your help any day except Thursday. We would like to have a consistent day for any club. We hope to pair you with one other parent, to work as a team. If you would be free to lead any of the clubs below, or have another talent you think might interest the kids, please contact Joanell Serra (parent) at Joanells@Comcast.net or 924-5951.
