Academic Eligibility and Support
Last Friday your student should have brought their second quarter report card home to you. At this midpoint of the year I want to take a moment to review the school’s policy regarding eligibility for participating in extra-curricular activities. The Hall Middle School Academic Eligibility Policy states that in order to participate in extra-curricular activities, students must earn above a 2.0 grade point average and have no “F” grades. Students who do not meet these requirements on their quarter report card may not participate in any school-sponsored extra-curricular activities for the next quarter. These include dances, student council, school musicals, athletics or enrichment activities. Students can regain their eligibility when they have at least a 2.0 and no “F” grades on their next quarter report card.
It is our firm belief that all students can succeed. To support students in being successful at school, we have a variety of support services in place. One of these supports is the After School Academic Support Program.
Students who are in danger of not meeting grade level standards can participate in weekly after school sessions to assist their skill acquisition and schoolwork completion.
Hall’s school counselor, Molly Yasuda is coordinating our after school program. Grade level teams have identified students who would benefit from the program and Ms. Yasuda will be contacting those families. If you are interested in having your child participate or would like more details about the program, please contact Ms. Yasuda.
Dance – February 9
Hall seventh and eighth grade students (who are academically eligible) are invited to attend the first-ever Hall/Kent Dance on February 9 at Kent Middle School. The Kent administration and student council have invited our students to attend their dance and participate in a Battle of the Bands. Hall will have an administrator, teacher and six parent chaperones join the Kent supervision team in ensuring student safety and appropriateness at this event. This is a great opportunity for students to socialize with students from another school in a safe setting. The event will start at 7pm and end at 9:30pm. Additional information will be sent out in next week’s backpack mail.
Drop Off and Pick Up
A quick reminder to all parents: when picking up or dropping of your students at school, you may only use the school’s main entrance. You must turn left upon entering the school and use the Pick-Up and Drop-Off Loop. You may not use the Piper Park Drive entrance. When vehicles use the other entrance or turn right into the parking lot, public safety vehicles at the police station are impacted and student safety in the parking lot is jeopardized. If you find the line at the entrance to be too long, please use Larkspur Plaza Drive or the Albertson’s parking lot. Starting this week we will be coning off the Piper Park Drive entrance, so please make alternate arrangements with your students.
