Proud to Share
Last week we hosted a five-member visitation team for our California Distinguished Schools Application. These administrators from around the county spent several hours touring classrooms and conducted interviews with the student council, Lead Team, Site Council, Board of Trustees, PTA and Foundation.  Our student council cabinet members, Sabrina, Rona, Brian, Hanna and Samantha guided our visitors around campus and answered questions about the school.  Each of the visitors made it a point to share with me how impressed they were with the warmth and maturity of their chaperones.  They were impeccable ambassadors of the school and I thank them for giving their time to this event.

Speaking of ambassadors, our parent community was instrumental in making the day a success.  Katie Hooper worked her magic on the staff room and created a truly wonderful breakfast for the visitation team and the entire staff.  The Cougar Crew, led by Dave (the Grill Master) Doyle treated everyone to a barbecue lunch that garnered the appreciation of all who partook.  Special thanks also to Ann Doyle, Julie Doherty and Liz Krakow who helped the lunch run so smoothly.  Hall parents who serve on the Board of Trustees, Foundation, PTA and Site Council generously gave their time to meet the visitation team and answer their questions about Hall.  All of the time and energy given by our parents represent one of our strongest assets as a school: our support from the parent community.  We are strengthened by our informed and involved parents who assist us with their insight, leadership, and ongoing support.  I thank all of you, not just for helping on the day we were visited, but for what you have given over the years that helped us earn the visit in the first place.

Our visitors were very impressed with the work going on they saw in each of the classrooms.  They made it a point to highlight the respect between students and staff and praised the respectfulness of our students. In the classrooms they saw engaging discussions and activities and the kind of magic that happens on a daily basis.

Whether or not we are ultimately selected for this distinction, I am happy to have had the opportunity to share what we do with our visitors.      I am very proud of our students, staff and parents and all that they bring to the school.
