Distinguished School
I received a phone call last week from Jack O’Connell, the California Secretary of Education, congratulating Hall Middle School for its selection as a California Distinguished school. This distinction is built upon the hard work of staff, students and families over many, many years. This is the fifth time that Hall has earned this distinction since the inception of the Distinguished School Recognition Program in 1986.

This honor recognizes the daily hard work of our teaching and classified staff and the ongoing involvement and support of our parents and community. Our staff is committed to challenge and support the students at Hall and that commitment is evident in their daily interactions. Our parents and community daily give their time and energy to support and improve school programs.

This achievement also honors the years of hard work of previous staff, students, parents and administration. Hall has a long history of excellence. Any honor it receives is testament to the accomplishments of all who have been a part of its rich history. I am grateful for their contributions and all that they have given to the school.

STAR Testing Calendar
This year our students will be taking the STAR tests during the weeks of April 30 and May 7. Tests will be administered in homeroom classes in the mornings, Monday through Wednesday each week. After the testing session for each day, students will have a recess and then attend each of their classes for the remainder of the day. In order to minimize disruption, please do not schedule appointments or family trips during these times.

Open House May 10
Mark your calendars for the evening of May 10 for our annual Open House. We will have a general session at 6:30pm in the gym. Classrooms will be open for visiting from 7 to 8:30.  More information will be shared as we approach the date.

Computer Challenge Exam
Hall eighth grade students have an opportunity to take the Challenge Exam for the Tamalpais Union High School District Computer Literacy requirement on May 5. A flier has been included in today’s backpack mail for all eighth graders that provides you with additional information.
