I think my defining moment at Open House last week came when I was sitting in the old eighth grade courtyard. The evening was comfortably warm and everywhere you looked you saw parents and students moving from one room to another.  The Hall Jazz Band’s music filled the air and gave the evening a feeling of celebration.  The library was abuzz with Book Fair sales as the fifth grade students managed the event.  I could see classrooms being visited by students and parents of students who were approaching the end of the year and also by families who are interested in learning about what next year will bring.  And all of this was from the vantage point of the courtyard.

I always enjoy showcasing the work of our students and staff.  Whether it is student writing, musical performances, athletic demonstrations or class projects; I always find myself invigorated by seeing the depth, breadth and creativity of the activities our students are engaged in and the work that they create.  At Open House I am reminded that each classroom is its own world with its unique feeling and character.  I love moving between these worlds and being reminded of the remarkable adults our students get to work with every day.

Thank you to all of the students and parents who came to experience our school with us.  And extra thanks to all of students who helped showcase their work through the activities and demonstrations.  It was a wonderful evening.
