MESSAGE: December 1, 2003 |
We Love You Conrad
Simply put, the Hall production of Bye
Bye Birdie was amazing. Everything
about it was incredible. The sets,
costumes and stage transformed the
gym. The student performances
impressed me most of all. It was truly
moving to watch our children sing,
dance and act with such talent and
energy.
Congratulations to all of the students
who put in so much time to make the
play a success. Your hard work during
rehearsal was evident every minute of
the play. You should be very proud of
what you have accomplished. I definitely
am.
A production of this caliber this does not
happen without a tremendous
investment of time and energy. Becky
Reed and her supporting parent
volunteers worked tirelessly from the
first audition to the final curtain. In my
estimation Becky must have heard the
words “We love you Conrad” sung
approximately 23,789 times over the last
several months. It is a special gift to be
able to help students find their artistic
voice. Becky and the parents who were
involved in this production did more than
simply put on a play; they helped our
children to grow.
Thankful
A Thanksgiving tradition in my family
has always been to share one thing that
we are each thankful for. With six kids
around the table, it always took a while
to get through everyone. We would each
hem and haw, and then start with the
ubiquitous: “I am thankful for…”
Now that I am a member of the Hall
family, and in keeping with that family
tradition: I am thankful for the students
at Hall Middle School. They have
welcomed me with kindness and
sweetness and have never failed to
make me smile every day. Thank you.

“Bye Bye Birdie” is the satiric Broadway musical
smash about an Elvis-inspired rock star, Conrad Birdie, who
is drafted into the Army and who creates a near-riot in a
small town when he stops for one last publicity junket in
1957. Performances were Nov 20-22, 1:00pm & 7:30pm.
