Campus Beautification
We had a great turnout last weekend at the campus beautification
days. Students and parents made great progress in improving the
front of school. It was a great group effort under the leadership
and guidance of Maija Norstad. Join us at the next work day on February
7.
Career Fair
Friday, February 13th will be the biennial Career
Fair. Nicole Kowalski and her team of parent support
are putting together a great day of speakers who will talk about
their careers. Students will receive a list of speakers on Monday,
January 26 in backpack mail. The next morning students will request
their top choices in homeroom the next morning. We are anticipating
a unique educational experience for our students. Remember that
even if your child does not get scheduled to hear their top choices,
they will still have a rich and informative experience.
Mathletes
The Hall Mathletes team competed in another county-wide competition
last Tuesday. The team earned an impressive second place finish.
I invite you to solve the following problem from the competition.
You have two minutes to answer the following:
You have two regular (1-6) dice, one red and one blue.
How many different ways can you roll them simultaneously to have
the result be an odd sum with a red prime number and a blue composite
number?
Remember to put your pencil down after two minutes. Look for the
solution in next week’s bulletin!
—Daniel Norbutas, Principal

All sixth grade students recently
participated in a Caribbean drumming and dance workshop led
by Wilfred Mark and funded through the Youth in Arts program.
The workshop enriched our study of “The Cay,”
by Theodore Taylor, a novel set in the Caribbean islands.
