PRINCIPALS
MESSAGE: March 29, 2004 |
Emergency Drill
Be sure to check the flyer in backpack
mail today for more information about
the April 7 Disaster and Student
Release Drill. After the earthquake
drill at 1:35pm and evacuation to the
blacktop, we will begin student release
at 2:00pm. Parents are to drive to the
drop-off circle to begin the student
release procedure. Staff and parent
volunteers will direct you regarding
what you need to do next. Releasing
over three hundred students to their
parents or the individuals identified on
their emergency cards will not be an
easy task. We want to thank parents
in advance for their cooperation and
patience. Our highest priority is the
safety of your children. We know that
the only way to adequately prepare for
an emergency is to practice for it.
A Good Sign
If you have driven by Hall you have no
doubt seen the new marquee in the
front of school. We are so happy to
have this new way to communicate
with the community. A huge Thank
You goes out the Hall PTA for their
generosity and support. It has been a
great pleasure to work with PTA
president Barbara Solomon and the
entire PTA this year. Their ongoing
support of teachers and the school
has made a positive difference in the
educational program at Hall. The
marquee is yet another example of
how the PTA makes great things
possible at Hall. Thank you for this
and all that you do.

Hall 7th Grade Mathletes Take Second
Place in County Tournament
Congratulations to the Hall Mathletes team for their
second place finish in the 2003-2004 countywide
mathematics competition. Seventh and eighth grade teams from 12
Marin County public and private schools participated in the tournament,
approximately 125 students. At the seventh grade level, Marin Country
Day School edged out Hall for a first place finish, and Del Mar
took third place. The Hall team finished in second place in round
4 of the tournament on March 16, and placed second in the overall
standings. The Hall Mathletes are to be congratulated for the dedication
and spirit they brought to both the team practices and the tournament
play. Well done, team!

Beautification Day Update
On March 10, we planted in front of the old entrance
(circle area) on Saturday with a dedicated and energetic group of
volunteers (as always!). Take a look at the magnolia, westringia,
phormium, society garlic, and the agapanthus donated
by the Roth family.
Thank you to all our fantastic gardeners! Thank you, Jeff Winkler,
Ramiro Gonzales, Rogelio Jimenez, and Cesar Gutierrez, for being
so supportive of our efforts and taking care of the plants after
we put them in the ground.
Watch the bulletin for details on the next beautification day. Several
families have donated plants — if you have anything that’s
deer resistant and relatively drought tolerant that you’d
like to donate, contact Maija at maijanorstad@yahoo.com.
