MESSAGE: April 26, 2004 |
STAR Testing Begins This Week
Today students began taking the annual state testing known as
STAR. STAR stands for Standardized Testing and Reporting Program
and is administered to public school students from second to eleventh
grade every year. Tests cover language arts, mathematics, reading,
spelling, and social studies for eighth graders. The tests yield
individual, grade, and school-level results. You will receive the
individual results for your child this summer. The grade and school-level
results are analyzed every year by the staff. The data helps us
to identify areas of strength and areas of need for departments
and grade levels, as well as providing critical individual student
data.
Students will test in the morning with their homerooms and then
will attend all six classes each day. A copy of the testing schedule
went out in last week’s backpack mail. Make-up testing will
be available at the end of each week for students who miss tests.
To help your children to perform their best, make sure they are
well rested and have a healthy breakfast each morning.
Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions about
STAR testing this year at Hall.
Drill Feedback
I have received several emails from parents with
suggestions and modifications for our student release procedures.
This feedback is extremely helpful. I will be sharing all suggestions
with the Safety Committee and will look to incorporate many of
the ideas. Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective
and insight.
Honoring Student Achievement
Congratulations to
students who earned Principal’s List
and Honor Roll for their academic performance in the third quarter
of the school year. Keep up the excellent work.
