MESSAGE: May 17, 2004 |
Track and Field Competition
Last week Hall students participated in
track and field events at College of
Marin with representatives from other
Marin County middle schools. Our
students gave their all and
represented Hall Middle School
admirably both on and off the track.
Eighteen Hall students qualified for
the finals based on their performance.
Congratulations to all students who
participated this year.
—Daniel Norbutas, Principal

FROM
HALL PTA: May 17, 2004 |
PTA for 2004-05
Congratulations to the new Officers
of Hall PTA for 2004-05, who were
elected last Thursday at the General
PTA meeting following Open House!
President: Rebecca Sarokin
8th Grade VPs: Ann Arabian &
Claudia Gropper
7th Grade VPs: Ann Morrison &
Scottie Spurzem
6th Grade VPs: Anne Gilberg & Paula
Turner
Treasurer: Barbara Kelly
Secretary: Robin Moller
Parliamentarian: Jeannie Perry
Historian/Bulletin Editor:
Marianne Rafter
Auditor: Diana Putterman
Thank you to Jeannie Perry, this
year’s Parliamentarian, and
her nominating committee, for their
excellent work in persuading
these parents to run for office. Next
year should be a banner year for Hall
PTA!
Jeannie also has filled most of the Hall
PTA committee positions for next
year. We are still looking for
volunteers to chair 8th Grade Graduation and Parent Education.
The Parent Ed. chair will work closely with Mr.
Norbutas and our counselor, Cookie
Morin, to set up appropriate parent
education nights. We also need a
nice twosome to post the weekly
announcements on the
signboard. This two-person job is
fun, has high “visibility,” and entails
spending time in the Hall Office,
where you learn what is really going
on at the school! The signboard
job would be perfect for a pair of
friends who live near the school or
whose schedules allow them to be at
the school for 25 minutes once or
twice a week. Contact Jeannie Perry or Rebecca Sarokin for details.
Corte Madera Larkspur Schools Foundation Auction
The
CMLSF Auction last Saturday was memorable, a wonderful
international gala! The Auction crew
did an excellent job transforming the
Mt. Tam Racquet Club into a "worldly"
locale, the food was tasty, and the
entertainment was a blast! Thanks
again to the Auction Chairs, Holly
Bogin, Jeanette Thorson and Rachel
Janin, and all their volunteers, who
helped raise so much money for our
schools.
Last PTA meetings of the Year
8th Grade parents are invited to
the Redwood High School PTSA
meeting this Thurs., May 20, at 8:30am, in the Kreps Center.
Come get a preview of what Redwood has to offer! Also, find out
about the all-important Tam High School District
parcel tax on the ballot next Nov.
Finally, the last meeting of the Hall
PTA Exec. Board is this Tuesday,
May 18. We will review our
accomplishments this year, wrap up
some end-of-the-year budget issues,
hear a short presentation from Becky
Reed on the Tam High parcel tax,
and hear a report from the principal
on Hall news. Following the meeting
(2:30pm or so), we will preview
the video on bullying in middle
school that was purchased by Hall
PTA.
Thanks for a wonderful year!
—Barbara Solomon, PTA
President
