Magazine Sales

Last week we had our kick-off assembly for the annual magazine subscription fundraiser.  All of the revenue from this fundraiser goes to our Student Council.  As you may already know, the Student Council is comprised of representatives from each homeroom and the elected Cabinet.  They meet weekly to plan a variety of events and discuss school-wide issues. School dances and other after school activities are organized and facilitated by the Student Council.  The largest event of the year is the end of the year pool party at Indian Valley College.  This event is entirely funded by the Student Council.

Along with the events, the Student Council also manages several fundraisers during the year, including the Warm Clothing Drive, Pennies for Patients, and Adopt-a-Family, just to name a few.  They also spearhead our Walk/Bike/Ride/Carpool to School efforts and design rewards and activities to promote responsible transportation.  The Student Council is also the venue for student voice on school issues.  I regularly meet with the Council to discuss issues that affect the students. Three of the elected members of the Cabinet also serve on the School Site Council and lend the student perspective to our discussions and decisions.

This magazine drive is their sole source of revenue to support their activities and programs.  On behalf of the Student Council, I thank you for your ongoing support of this fundraiser.

Get Ready 94925

By now you've probably seen the signs around town for Get Ready Marin -- a county-wide program backed by local fire departments and aimed at training at least one member of each household in emergency preparedness.  Find out how you can prepare yourself and your home in the event of a disaster by joining us in the Neil Cummins Gym for a FREE, 2-hour emergency preparedness session on Thursday, October 25 from 7-9pm.

All parents of Neil Cummins and Hall students are invited to attend.  Let us know you're coming by sending an e-mail to info@getready94925.org.  For further information, check out the website:  www.getready94925.org.
