HALLoween

Hall students are permitted to dress up for Halloween.  That being said, it is important that students and parents remember that Halloween and the day after Halloween are regular school days.  Teachers will be conducting classroom activities and giving tests and quizzes like any other day.  If students decide to dress up for Halloween, it is important that their costumes not interfere with the lessons of the day. To accomplish this, costumes must adhere to the following guidelines:

Costumes Must…

  1. Be practical for attendance throughout the entire school day, including PE.  Students must be able to sit comfortably in all classes and do work.
  2. Follow the school dress code  (no bare midriff, bare shoulders, spaghetti straps).
  3. Be school appropriate.

Costumes May Not Include the Following:

  1. Masks
  2. Face Painting
  3. Any type of weapon (gun, sword, spear, etc)
  4. Hair coloring
  5. Drug or alcohol references
  6. Silly String
  7. Costumes of a sexual nature, reflecting violent themes, or negatively representing any race, religion or gender

PowerSchool Reminder

For those of you using the student/parent access to PowerSchool, remember to click on the grade listed for each class to get a detailed list of the assignments. When you select Grades and Attendance you will see each class listed. Click on the current grade for any given class and you will see a breakdown of assignments, tests, etc.

If you are interested in signing up you can print the Use Agreement on our website and return it to the office or simply call or come by the office to sign a form.  We will then send you a login and password.

Chalk Festival

We are going to give it one more try! This week we will attempt to have our twice-delayed Chalk Festival after school on Friday, November 2,  from 3:05 - 5pm.  Come by to create some art on the ground, eat some food, listen to music and have fun.

Flag Football Scores a Victory

The Hall Cougars flag football team saw its first victory in 4 seasons last Wednesday!  We played the Kent Middle School team and the Hall Cougars won in overtime 26-19.  Talk about an excited crowd of kids!  If any of you are thinking about playing flag football next fall and want to check out a home game, we play against St. Hilary's on Monday, November 5, 3:30 at Piper Park.
Go Cougars!

Hit the Hoops for Hall!

Building on the momentum for after-school sports from our fabulously fantastic flag football victory over Kent, there will be another way for kids to have a ball -- by playing for Hoops for Hall!  Teams are be formed by grade to compete against other middle schools.  Coached by the finest of Hall's staff -- possible Cougars Coaches include Steve "Jammin' Jumper" Johnston, Jeff "Dangerously Dribbling" Derby and Amanda "Easy Shot" Estes, your child will practice beginning in late November right after school 2 days a week, with games beginning in January.  Both CYO and non-CYO players can do this.  Interested players should sign-up in the Office or contact Andy Boone at aboone@marin.k12.ca.us or at 927-6978 x 2253.

Warm Clothing Drive for
Ritter Center (November 5-9)

Help the community stay warm and dry and earn one hour of community service.  In addition a name will be picked at random from the warm clothing participants and the winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Book Passage (courtesy of Marin Rotary Sunrise). Flyers with attached community service slips were distributed to the students today.  Please complete the information on the community service slips and bring the bags to the drop off loop any morning NEXT WEEK. On behalf of Ritter Center and with co-sponsorship of Marin Sunrise Rotary, the Hall PTA Community Service committee and Student Council will be collecting items (gloves, jackets, hats, boots, etc) at the drop off circle.  We truly appreciate your participation.  Thank you for helping. Email questions to communityservice@hallpta.org or contact any of the community service committee members.
