Principal's Message

Site Council Update

The Hall School Site Council has been hard at work on school-wide issues this year.  At the midpoint of the year we wanted to update you on the work that we have done and the work that still remains.

The Site Council is comprised of representatives of students, parents, teachers and classified staff.  At each monthly meeting Council members share information from their constituent groups.  Your parent representatives are Dominique Halilej, Caroline Lewis and Cindy Traverso.  A PTA liaison also attends each meeting.  This semester Claudia Gropper has facilitated communication between the Site Council and PTA.  I would like to extend my thanks to the fall semester student representatives, Gillian Gaynor, Zoe Trutner and Natalia Goldsmith who did a wonderful job representing the student body and sharing their perspective on school-wide issues.

This year the Site Council has adopted our Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). This plan encompasses departmental and grade level goals for the year and identifies key focus areas for the school.  Copies of this plan are available in the office and will soon be posted on the school website. The Site Council has also continued our deeper investigation into the homework topic and organized a two-week student survey. Categorical funds have been allocated by the Site Council, funding programs and activities that support the school goals.  Money has been allocated for professional development, Spanish resources, and social studies textbooks.

The Site Council has recently finalized the annual student and parent surveys.  For the first time at Hall, students and parents will be taking the surveys online.  These surveys will take place during the week we return from the February break.

During the balance of the year the Site Council will evaluate and report on the findings of the student and parent surveys, continue to allocate funds in support of the school plan and continue to collect data on homework at Hall.

The Site Council invites you to participate in our meetings and share your perspective. Come to our meetings on the third Thursday of the month or speak with one of your representatives.

Academic Recognition

Our first morning academic recognition event will be on Wednesday, February 13 from 7:45 – 8:15 in the gym.  This event will honor students who earned Honor Roll, Principal’s List and Academic Improvement for the second quarter.  Last week letters were mailed out inviting eligible students and their parents to join us at the event.

If you have any questions regarding your child’s participation, please do not hesitate to contact the main office.  Congratulations to all Hall students on a great second semester.

Hall Mathletes Take Second

Congratulations to the Hall Mathletes teams!  The 7th grade team placed second in last Tuesday's county competition.
