Principal's Message

In Love with a Duck

If you missed the 5th/6th grade production of Honk!, you missed a real gem of a play.  I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this wonderful production.  The excellent set design and costumes set the stage for the moving performances of our performers.  I was blown away by the beautiful voices and talent of our students and once again thankful for the hard work and support of our amazing parents.

As impressed as I was with every aspect of the production, I also felt that the message of the play was relevant and meaningful. The challenging rite-of-passage journey, including issues of identity and how we treat one another, are universal and especially significant at a middle school. “Ugly” the duck eventually succeeds and becomes an elegant swan thanks in large part to the help of others and his own positive attitude. As Superintendent Pitts mentioned in her weekly Perspective, at Hall we would like to thank Dale Camden, Dominique Harroch, Bruce Amos, Linda Sudduth, Linda Stoich, Cathie Lopez, Amy Friedricks, Jason Brodersen, Kit Warne, Lisa Donahue, Drew Gasperini (and any other volunteers we may have forgotten to mention.)

Recognizing Excellence

Last week Hall hosted our second Academic Recognition Breakfast honoring students who earned

Principal’s List, Honor Roll or Academic Improvement during the third quarter.  The students who earned these honors should feel very proud of their accomplishments.  We were delighted to hear from three student speakers who spent a few minutes reflecting on their own successes and people who help make a difference in their lives.  We were all reminded how powerful it can be when we create opportunities for kids to speak openly about their experiences.

Showing What They Know

This week we begin STAR testing. Please encourage your students to give their best effort.  The results of our statewide testing help provide a direct indicator as to how well our students are acquiring content standards.  Please support your child by ensuring that they are in school and on time.  Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and has a good nutritional breakfast in the morning.
