5th Grade Independent
Reading Program

 


All 5th grade students participate in the Independent Reading Program. This program requires all students to set trimester independent reading goals and complete assigned book projects and presentations.

Students are encouraged to read 20 minutes per night to meet their goal of 700 pages per trimester to meet grade level standards. Once a book is completed students should fill out a book coupon and complete a "book talk" with an adult. Each classroom is assigned a unique genre of literature each session and students complete projects from an extensive list of choices.
