Surprise Mystery Guest Joins Festival Line-up!
As if there wasn’t already enough variety of music and talent programmed for the Twin Cities Music Festival on Friday, March 31, an exciting guest artist has just been added to the bill. Our mystery performer is one of the most well known people in the community. This person is (music) conservatory trained and has performed a wide variety of musical styles over the years, beginning right here in our school district’s music program! We’re not the “Gong Show” (our mystery musician refuses to wear a paper bag), but the artist’s true identity will be revealed on the night of the concert.

MICHAEL ARROW, fourth grade teacher at Neil Cummins Elementary, is another performer in the spotlight on the 31st. His jazz quintet, “Caledonia” will serve as house band. They‘ll play their own set of great modern jazz as well as accompany some of our other artists. A special moment will be when the quintet joins with jazz tapper LEXI AHLE (Hall Teacher) on the Count Basie standard, “Cute,” (made famous by multi-talented entertainer Sammy Davis Jr.). The tune will culminate with a battle between drummer Arrow and “hoofer” Ahle. “When I saw the Beatles on their historic Ed Sullivan Show performance in 1964, the die was pretty much cast,” remembers Arrow. “I just knew I had to play like Ringo! I started banging on different sized cans, then finally got my beautiful new blue-sparkle snare drum from Sears!” he continued. That was just the beginning. His one drum became many, as did the styles of music and the diverse bands he has played with over the years. His influences and preference eventually turned to jazz. If you love exciting jazz and Latin-influenced music in the tradition of Buddy Rich, Miles Davis, Billy Cobham and Dave Brubeck, you'll love hearing Michael Arrow’s “Caledonia” jazz quintet on March 31 at the Twin Cities Music Festival!
