8th grade ZAPATISTA MURAL

DURING the week of January 18-21, 2000, all eighth-grade students worked to create this 8’ x 40’ mural.
This activity was part of the art education program that is provided by Youth In Arts through a generous donation by an anonymous parent. It was on display

This mural was completed as part of Hall’s observation of Human Rights Week.
This ambitious project, the recreation of the Zapatista Mural was led by artist Sara Foust.
It is one of a series of reproductions around the world created to show support for the Zapatistas in protecting the indigenous Mayans of Chiapas, Mexico.
Teachers at Hall worked in tandem with Sara, giving lectures on human rights issues.
