Henry C. Hall Middle School PTA EXECUTIVE BOARD MINUTES
Meeting of Thursday, October 19, 2000
12:45pm Hall Library
Meeting called to order at 1:15pm.
Board members present:
Ann Arabian, Bob Cone, President Anne Gilberg, Kathy Grey, Lindsay McCrea,
Robin Moller, Jeannie Perry and Debra Ziegler.
Board members absent:
Alexandra Cock, Kathie Cummins, MarySue
Murray, and Becky Reed.

- MINUTES
MSP to approve minutes of September 21, 2000.
- TREASURERS REPORT (attached)
- 10/19/00 Balance $11,921.48
- PRESIDENTS REPORT
- Lunch Program: Chow Mein changing to Monday. There was a
problem with the ovens last Tuesday. Bob will check into it. We dont
know yet if there will there be a kitchen available to the hot lunch
program next year, due to anticipated construction.
- Membership Update: Membership income is low. Will send a
letter to non-member families, teachers. Karen Deist will publish
a list of members.
- Chalk Festival: went very well, in spite of many date
conflicts. Income a bit less than last year but only $52 over budget.
Have a large supply of used chalk, which will be provided to the students
for use at lunchtime. PTA will purchase $200 of chalk for use next
year. Need chairpeople for next year. Kathy Grey did a great job of
recruiting and managing the community service students.
- Magazine Sales: light turn-out on first turn-in day.
- Parent Ed: next date is February 8, Lynn Ponton.
- Dance Chaperones: October 27 needs have been filled.
- Lunch Tables: new tables have arrived, and are being assembled.
- Health & Safety: Darrell Justus is the coordinator. Will
meet with Bob and the Neil Cummins coordinator soon. (They meet 4
times a year.) Will check supplies in the storage containers and emergency
backpacks.
- Hall PTA Calendar (see attached): has been updated.
- Community Service: Ann Arabian, Leslie Cunningham, and Kathie
Cummins are managing holiday gift baskets. Warm clothing drive will
run from October 26 to November 3.
- Upcoming Legislation: Anne will ask Janetta if PTA can promote
positions in backpack mail.
- PRINCIPALS REPORT
- Redwood: Principal Nancy Neu will make a presentation at
Hall next Wednesday.
- Tech Lab: all new matching iMacs have been installed in the
lab, plus a good computer in each classroom. Funded by $100,000 from
the District, plus $10,000 from the Site Council.
- PTA donation: $4,500 went to teachers ($250 each), $4,500
to science videos, a heart model, wall maps, weights, heart monitors,
Merrie Olde England Faire, Inner Circle AIDS assembly, overhead screens.
Had enough funding, with other sources, to fund all items on wish
lists.
- Student Council: went to ROPES course today.
- 6th grade pumpkin carving: coming up.
- Central Marin County Spelling Bee: took place yesterday.
Charlie D. going on to County as 6th grade representative, Paul M.
as 7th grader.
