Henry C. Hall Middle School PTA EXECUTIVE BOARD MINUTES

Meeting of Thursday, March 15, 2001
1:15pm • Hall Library

Meeting called to order at 1:20pm.
In attendance: Anne Gilberg, Patty Doherty, Debra Ziegler, Kathy Grey, Ann Arabian, Becky Reed, Lindsay Mead-McCrea, Alexandra Cock, Jeannie Perry, Bob Cone, and 1 guest: Leslie Alden-Crowe.

  1. MINUTES
The minutes from the previous mtg. were not available so they were deferred to next month’s mtg.
  1. TREASURER’S REPORT — Mike Slater
    Looks good!
  1. PRESIDENT’S REPORT
    Old Business:
    • PTA Convention: April 26–29, 2001 is the date of the California State PTA Convention in San Jose. President Anne Gilberg encouraged anyone who plans to be on next year’s PTA Board to attend. If anyone is interested, they should notify her.

    New Business
    • Auditor’s Report: Alexandra Cock reported that everything was in “tip-top shape” … she had one suggestion: when the PTA lunch money report is completed every Monday and Tuesday, there is nowhere for the person filling out the report to sign their name. Then once the treasurer receives it, it’s typically sent directly to the bank without being checked. It was MSP to have a new line inserted on the lunch money for the person’s name, and to have the Treasurer verify the report before taking it to the bank.
    • 8th Grade VP Report: Susan Boley had a mtg. Wed. night (3/14) to go over the D.C. trip details with parents and students. It ran very smoothly and the 70 students attending are extremely excited.
    • 7th Grade VP Report: The PTA sponsored “Merry Ole‘ England Faire” will be held on May 24th, 2001.
    • 6th Grade VP Report: Pictures and a thank you from the Greenbrae Nursing Home, where the 6th grade valentines were sent — these will be displayed on the bulletin board outside the MUR.
    • Nominating Committee: Lindsay Mead McCrea reported that the nominating committee (Lindsay, Anne Gilberg & Ann Arabian) would be meeting on March 21st and April 4th.
    • Emergency Food Supplies: The district has funds to replenish the emergency food supplies with Cliff Bars… they got a good deal on these!
    • Legislative Chairperson: Our guest, Leslie Alden-Crowe, suggested the PTA might like to have an “informant” to tell us about current legislative issues that might affect our children, either positively or negatively. The PTA Board agreed to make Leslie our Legislative Committee Chairperson.
  1. PRINCIPAL’S REPORT — Bob Cone
    • 13 % of Hall students are attending the early morning Art class that is being offered.
    • Tammy Roman, P.E. teacher, had a baby boy — “Anthony.”
    • Bob complimented Anne Gilberg on her letter in this week’s Hall Bulletin addressing the incident that occurred at Santana High.
    • Bob told all Hall students that there is NO tolerance for teasing amongst students. If it’s heard or reported, the student will be suspended.
    • Susan Boley & Becky Reed are co-coordinating the Hall Talent Show to be held during the school day — date to be determined.
    • Nearly every 8th grader has signed up to be in a “Peer Pressure Group,” put on by Redwood High School students.
    • Registration for 8th graders going to Redwood High School is tomorrow (3/16).
    • March 22, 2001 is the date for the Student Council Ropes Course in San Francisco …great team building!
    • April 23–27, 2001 Bob will be meeting with all Neil Cummins 5th graders and their parents—individually.
    • 8 students that are on the pre-pay lunch program have not ordered Hall yearbooks. Bob wanted to make sure they each receive one, so he asked if money was left over in the PTA Scholarship Fund. Approx. $240.00 is needed. Only $60.00 remains in the Scholarship Fund, so Anne Gilberg suggested that $180.00 be moved from the Beautification Comm. Fund to the Scholarship Fund. It was MSP.
  1. OPEN DISCUSSION
There was a request from Liz Krakow & Ann Morrison, (Hall raffle chairmen), for cookie vouchers to be given to Hall students that turn in raffle tickets for the CML Auction. It was MSP to allow $25.00 for the cookie vouchers.

Next meeting: Thursday, April 12, 2001 at 1:15pm.
Meeting adjourned at 2:20pm.
