New Business:
- Hall Middle School Musical Theater — Ann Arabian
The Larkspur Recreation Dept. would like to confirm a date for 2004
performances. There is a planning meeting coming up.
- Hall Middle School Musical Theater Director —
this position is open. Applications are being taken now.
Becky Reed has applied for the position of director. A Motion was made
by Barbara Solomon to hire Becky Reed for the position of musical director.
This was seconded by Ann Morrison, and unanimously approved by the board.
We will also need a producer for this. Becky suggested that there should
be a committee chair position for PTA called the musical theater coordinator.
- Grade level VP reports/updates —
For the end of school picnic, the names of the grade level VPs were
listed in the Pink Section, to be contacted for volunteer drivers. The
cost of the buses is $345 each, and we would need 8 or 9 buses. We’d
like to have parents drive instead. The date is June 9 and we need about
60 drivers. Calls should be directed to the grade VPs. As far as logistics
go, it would be good to separate meeting areas for the separate grades
and stagger times of departure.
– There is a 7th/8th grade dance coming up on May 16. We need
chaperones.
– There is no date set yet for the 7th grade cultural day.
The following are scheduled in the next two months:

• The health and safety officer Bonnie Kaiser reported on the Earthquake
Drill. She felt it was a very successful event. She called it well organized.
• We’re concentrating on the 5th graders who will be coming
to Hall next year. Tours will begin soon.
• On May 9 at 8:45a, there will be a tour of Hall Middle School
for any interested parties.
• We may be getting some new students from St. Patrick School.
• STAR testing begins next Monday.
• We are now in the process of searching for principals for both
Hall and Neil Cummins. We have 75 applicants so far.
Teacher’s Report: Trish Mahalek
• There may be a few schedule changes during the STAR testing period.
Some classes will be rotated so children will have each core class at
least twice per week. There will be little or no homework during this
period of time.
• Many of the teachers have signed up to work on the parcel tax.
They are making phone calls, or doing whatever is needed.
• There will be a Hall book fair this year.
• The 8th grade Washington D.C. trip was great.
Our next and last board meeting for this year will be on Tuesday, May
