Henry C. Hall Middle School PTA
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES

Meeting of Tuesday, September 7, 2004
8:30pm • Hall Middle School

Welcome:
President Rebecca Sarokin called the meeting to order at 8:30pm.  A quorum was present.

Fundraisers:

  • Membership: Rebecca asked all to join PTA and support its programs.
  • Lunch Snacks: starting soon, as a 4 day/week fundraising program (Jamba Juice, burritos, bagels, and pizza). Still looking for volunteers. Thanks to Jean Suliteanu and Jan Smith for taking the lunch snack project on. [PTA will not offer a full lunch option this year. TJ’s went out of business unexpectedly, and the state lunch requirements are quite stringent.]
  • Chalk Festival: Upcoming on October 1, 3:15-5:00. Still looking for volunteers. Thanks to Leigh Estes for managing it.

Measure G:
The Citizens for Tam District High School are working hard to assure the passage of Measure G in November, the Parcel Tax upon which Redwood High School relies for many of its programs. Barbara Solomon is staffing a table outside, asking for volunteers to help.

West Side Story:
Becky Reed is directing West Side Story at Hall. She invited all to encourage their children to participate, and to attend the performances.

Budget:
Rebecca presented the proposed 2004-05 budget. It was moved (Ann Arabian), seconded (Diana Putterman) and passed unanimously that we accept the budget.

Principal’s Report:
Daniel Norbutus reported that the play structure is expected to be complete by the end of next week; that the 4 new teachers are doing well; and the new 6th graders are making a good transition. He thanked the Foundation for funding the new chorus (Mr. Brungess held a meeting last week), and the new full-time counselor (who should be starting soon). He also thanked the PTA for the new signboard, classroom supplies, and LCD projectors in the classrooms.

Board Report:
Michael Futterman mentioned that the Larkspur School District parcel tax expires in June. The tax provides 20% of the District budget. The Board expects to request a new parcel tax in the March election and will be looking for people to help assure its passage.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:45pm
