EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Meeting of Tuesday, April 18, 2006
1:15pm • Hall Middle School

Board Members Present: Claudia Gropper, Barbara Kelly, Robin Moller, Ann Morrison, Daniel Norbutas, Rebecca Sarokin, Monica Sherman, Scottie Spurzem, Linda Sudduth, Ted Stoeckley, Paula Turner
Board Members Absent: Anne Gilberg, Rebecca Paul, Valerie Pitts, Sara Spero

1. Welcome
President Rebecca Sarokin called the meeting to order at 1:20pm.

2. Minutes
    ⇒ MSP to approve the minutes from the last Executive Board meeting of March 21, 2006.

3. Treasurer’s Report — Barbara Kelly
See attached.

4. Teacher-Representative Remarks — Ted Stoeckley

  • Permission slips for the upcoming Earth Day walking field trip to King Mountain have gone out. The 6th graders will pull broom under the direction of an MCOSD ranger. PTA will provide snacks. Students will return to school before lunchtime.
  • ⇒ MSP to purchase 50 pairs of gloves for this event. Ann Morrison will purchase.

5. Superintendent’s Report — no report

6. President’s Report — Rebecca Sarokin

  • Logowear Expenditures — lost money this year, but will be able to reuse the artwork for next year.
  • Hall Domain Name and email addresses — Dena Van Derveer has set this up so that there will no longer be personal email addresses on the website.
  • Parent Ed — event with Annie Fox went well, and was well attended.
  • Next Year’s Board and Committee Chairs — Barbara Kelly and Jean Suliteanu have agreed to be co-presidents. Jan Smith will do the lunch program. Rebecca suggested that each grade’s VP be responsible for the following activities:
    • 5th grade: wrapping paper sales, outdoor ed;
    • 6th grade: three current activities, lost and found, picture day;
    • 7th grade: lunch program volunteer coordinators;
    • 8th grade: graduation committee, site council liaison.
    Upcoming events — May 2: Teacher Appreciation lunch; May 11: Open House, with general PTA meeting afterward (Paula will manage election); May 12: Assemblies about Internet Safety (one each for 6th, 7th and 8th grades); May 18: PTA Board luncheon 11:30-1:30 at Claudia’s.
  • VP Reports — 6th: OK; 7th: OK; 8th: excited about graduation.

7. Principal’s Report — Daniel Norbutas

  • 4th grade parent info meeting tonight.
  • 5th grade parent info meeting Thursday night.
  • Assembly tomorrow — Nightmare on Puberty Street
  • Star Testing — Starts next Monday. Continues M, Tu, W for two weeks.
  • Construction on the new wing: has begun.

Meeting adjourned at 1:50pm.
